“Devotion”

“Devotion” tells the story of the friendship between Jesse Brown (Jonathan Majors), who was the first Black naval aviator in U.S. Navy History, and Tom Hudner (Glen Powell). Both of these war heroes were the most decorated naval pilots during the Korean War. You can expect thrilling aerial maneuvers like those featured in ” Top Gun.”

“Strange World”

“Emancipation”

Will Smith; Ben Foster, Grant Harvey; directed and produced by Antoine Fuqua

Based on the true story Gordon, a slave who ran away from Louisiana in 1863. Antoine Fuqua’s historical drama tells the story of Gordon and his daring escape.

Will Smith portrays Gordon in the movie as Peter. His long and difficult journey to freedom will take him to the North, where he will join the Union Army.

“Emancipation,” is currently in theaters Dec. 2.

 

“Violent Night”

After the success of Michael Showalter’s 2021 biographical drama “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” he has helmed another biopic — the true-life story of Michael Ausiello (Jim Parson), and Kit Cowan (Ben Aldridge), an entertainment reporter.

This film is based on Ausiello’s memoir “Spoiler Alert, The Hero Dies” and chronicles Cowan’s final 11 months after he was diagnosed as having terminal cancer.

“Spoiler Alert!” is now in theaters December 9.

 

“Empire of Light.”

Olivia Colman; Micheal Ward, Colin Firth; directed and produced by Sam Mendes

Sam Mendes’ romantic drama, set in an English seaside village in the 1980s, combines romance and cinematic magic. The film tells the story of Olivia Colman, a middle-aged woman who is depressed and runs Empire theater. When she meets Michael Ward, a young ticket-seller who can give her the much-needed joy de vivre, her life will change.

Guillermo del Toro & Mark Gustafson team up to reimagine the Carlo Collodi story of Pinochio (Gregory Mann), a fabled wooden puppet that becomes a boy but is too mischievous for his good. You will be amazed at the stop-animation rendition that features an all-star cast.

“Guillermo del Toro’s Pinochio” is now available on Netflix Dec. 9.

 

“The Whale”

Empathy is abundant in Darren Aronofsky’s latest drama with Brendan Fraser, who plays the career-defining role as a severely obese father trying to reconnect with his teenage daughter. Movie buffs will be able to recognize Fraser’s name during the awards season.

“Avatar: The Way of Water.”

After nearly 14 years since James Cameron’s “Avatar” was a box-office hit, the sequel will finally make its way to the big screen. The theatrical release date of the film has been delayed numerous times over the years. Although the plot details are still being worked out, we can expect the story to continue 10 years after the events in the original film.

“Avatar: The Way of Water”, is now in theaters December 16.

 

“I Want to Dance with Somebody”

The Whitney Huston biopic by Kasi Lemmons is now alive with Naomi Ackie playing the late music diva, and Stanley Tucci portraying the record producer who helped Huston rise to stardom.

“Pussy in Boots: The Last Wish”

Oliver Hermanus recreates Akira Kurosawa’s 1952 masterpiece “Ikiru” with an English-language adaptation that is set in 1950s London. Bill Nighy, an English bureaucrat, is the protagonist of this story. He searches for meaning in his last days after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

“Living,” is now in theaters December 23rd.

 

“Women Talking”
