For the Fourth Statewide Alaska Music Summit, musicians, supporters, as well as fans, from all over Alaska will gather in Juneau this weekend. Marian Call breaks down the celebrations today at Juneau Afternoon.

The Alaska Music Summit will cover the following topics:

  • The Alaskan music scene is unique
  • We want to create the scene.
  • Art and money (and how to apply for grants).
  • Licensing music to film and other ways of leveling up
  • Music in the community: Festivals, venues, and tourism
  • Take inventory of the music scene or why data is needed

In addition to special guests, there will be key figures from the Alaskan music community sharing their expertise, as well as plenty of time for discussion in breakout group discussions.

  • Juneau Dance Theatre highlights “Winter Showcase”
  • Juneau Audubon Society shares their monthly preview
