Calhoun County (AL) –A two-vehicle collision that took place at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, claimed the life of a Piedmont resident. Zackary J. McCallie, 31, died after his 1999 Nissan Altima collided with the 2011 Infiniti G37 of Kelley R. Breeden (41). McCallie was declared dead at the scene. Breeden was flown by helicopter to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital (UAB), for treatment. McCallie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time McCallie and Breeden crashed. The crash happened on U.S. 278 at the 153 mile marker. It was approximately five miles west from Piedmont in Calhoun County. Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate.
