Montgomery AL –Governor Kay Ivey reiterated Wednesday her support for Alabama’s small business owners by signing a proclamation declaring Saturday, November 26th 2022, Small Business Saturday in Alabama.

Alabamians can celebrate the positive impact that small businesses make on their communities by designating Saturday after Thanksgiving Day Small Business Saturday.

“Our small businesses not only bring charm and character back to Alabama, but they also play an integral part in building and maintaining a strong economic system. Small business support ripples down to new opportunities for job creation and support for our schools. But ultimately it is felt positively by all,” Governor Ivey said. Supporting an Alabama small business means that you are supporting our state.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), applauded Governor Ivey’s proclamation.

Rosemary Elebash (NFIB Alabama State Director) said that “Small business Saturday” is a great way to help local and family-owned businesses. Small business owners are emerging from the pandemic with serious economic headwinds like inflation, worker shortages, and continuous supply chain disruptions. Small businesses require support every day, not just on Small Business Saturday. Alabama’s economy is based on small businesses, so we encourage everyone to shop locally this holiday season.

American Express and NFIB found that 67 cents from every dollar spent on a small family-owned business stays in the community. Every dollar spent at a small local business generates 50 cents more local business activity, as employees and employers shop at other local businesses.

NFIB is the country’s largest small business advocacy group. For more information about NFIB Alabama, visit www.NFIB.com/AL.
