    • Living on Earth Thanksgiving Special: Americans gather to celebrate Thanksgiving and to share their gratitude. Here’s a look at the connection between climate, health, democracy, and embracing the plant world in your diet. In some Native cultures, four additional staples are included in the “Three Sisters”, which include squash, beans, corn, and beans. Living on Earth’s Thanksgiving Edition features the “Seven Sisters” as well as the importance of conserving Native seeds. (Wednesday, November 23, 7:00 pm)
    • Songs of the People is a 28-minute audio program hosted and presented by Benjamin Mertz. Benjamin Mertz is a singer in the Black Spiritual tradition. This program will examine pre-20th century Black music as a folk tradition. It will also explore its African roots and similarities to traditional music of the First Nations in North America. Black Spiritual music is a blend of work songs, drum circles and sacred chants. It also includes songs that invoke the imagery of rivers or mountains. (Thursday 24 November, 3:00 p.m.
    • Indigenous YOUth Nations is a 29-minute episode that works to “Celebrate Culture”, Empower Youth, “Nourish Knowledge,” Inspire Intergenerational Dialogue,” as well as build strong roots for future generations. (Thursday 24 November, 3:30 p.m.
    • Giving thanks: Classical Music is the heart and soul the original Giving Thanks. There are no clichés about pilgrims or pumpkin pies between the music. It’s a modern celebration of the spirit and virtues of gratitude. Giving Thanks is the ideal atmosphere for Thanksgiving, whether your listeners are in the kitchen or on the way to a family gathering. John Birge hosts a thoughtful and contemporary reflection on Thanksgiving with music and stories. (Thursday 24 November, 6:00 p.m.
    • Estranged. Host Anita Rao talks to two women who, by choice or circumstance, became estranged with their parents. Raksha Vasudevan, writer, discusses how her experience as an immigrant has shaped her thinking about how to create distance from her family. Tiffany Scott shares her experiences of being ghosted by her father. They reflect on their journeys to find belonging and seek support from other sources. Anita learns from two sisters who have been separated for over 40 years that reconciliation is possible but not for all. (Friday, November 25, 2013, 3:00 pm.
