Jacksonville (AL) –Dr. Brent J. Cunningham, who has served as interim dean of JSU’s College of Business and Industry since January 3, 2007, has been officially named the dean.

Cunningham joined JSU’s faculty as an assistant professor in marketing in 1999. In 2009-2010, he was the Faculty Senate president. He was then promoted to full professor in 2012.
Cunningham was appointed interim head of Lyons & Company, Inc. Department of Management and Marketing in 2017. He served as the official head of the department until he became interim dean of college on January 3, 2022.
Cunningham, a JSU alumnus received a BS degree in marketing in 1987 from the university. Cunningham earned an MA in marketing in 1990 from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. (Marketing) in 1999 from the University of Mississippi. He began his academic career at Union University in Jackson (Tenn.) from 1990 to 1998.
Cunningham stated, “Jacksonville State University (USA) is a remarkable institution and it is an honor to serve as dean of the College of Business and Industry in such a special place.” “I am grateful President Killingsworth, and Provost Shelton, for trusting me with such an essential role.”
