Piedmont (AL) – A flurry of late-arriving offers has led to Piedmont’s receiver, who sees his day come and signs with West Georgia

Thomas Propst grew up in a family of football coaches and one of his fondest memories was National Signing Day. He couldn’t wait every year to see the top players from his father’s teams march to the front in brightly colored caps and sign with the various programs across the nation. He longed to be one of these guys with every stroke of his pen back then.
The Piedmont receiver stated that it was great to see everyone else sign, put in their work, and get the result. “I thought to myself that I would like to do that when my time is up. It was probably 8th, 9th grade. I worked hard to make it happen. Propst finally got his day Wednesday when he signed his own scholarship at the University of West Georgia. It felt “more special” than watching the players he idolized years ago, he said.
He would be the 256th player Rush Propst, the legendary high school coach, has been a part of sending to the next level. This was the most satisfying of all the Papa Propst players who have been sent to the next level. Rush recalled the signing days of his youth and said, “He’s grown-up going to signing days.” Rush said, “He’s been there for a lot of these kids down to the wire. He has heard the phone calls from Monday night kids committing to Kentucky and then flipping to LSU just 36 hours later. Over the years, I’ve witnessed some amazing things.”
Although it may seem like a straight line from Piedmont, Ga. to Carrollton (Ga.), Thomas Propst’s journey to West Georgia was a long one. He suffered many injuries that nearly prevented his college dreams from coming true. Propst was a two-year transfer to Piedmont and has since become a reliable, smart inside receiver.
