Arizona’s state Capitol will use a tree taken from Coconino National Forest in a fuel reduction project to be this year’s Christmas tree.
The spokesperson for Arizona Department of Fire and Forestry Management stated that the Douglas Fir, measuring 30 feet in height, was removed as part of a fuel mitigation project conducted throughout the state to protect communities from wildland fires.
They decided to make it the Capitol Christmas tree. The Capitol’s executive tower lobby will have the tree on display.
The Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on December 5.
