Richard Lamar Palmer Sr. (78), of Bay Minette in Alabama went to be with his Lord and the family and friends that preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Richard Lamar Palmer Sr.
Lamar joined Navy in 1963. He served as a Boiler Technician IIIrd Class Petty officer aboard the USS Neches (AO47). He was then trained at Lake County Community College as an Electronics Technician. Martin Marietta was his first job, and later Lockheed Martin. He was praised for developing a software program that helped fellow employees calculate various weights. This saved them a lot time and effort. He enjoyed playing and teaching music. From an early age, he was self-taught on guitar, keyboard, bass, banjo and keyboard. He was able to use computers. He loved to analyze and learn about everything, from sports statistics to computer programming and food. He was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves, and University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He loved to entertain the children at family gatherings with card tricks and riddles. He will be greatly missed.
His two sons, Richard (Misty) Palmer Jr., of Sparks (Georgia) and Shannon Palmer Jr., of Nashville (Georgia), are still with him; seven grandchildren: Joseph (Katya) Palmer and Shelby (Brent) Vance, both of Galax. Also, Quinton Palmer and Quinton Palmer of Henderson. Kentucky. Cheyenne Prince and Fletcher, North Carolina. Isabella Palmer and Colby Palmer of East Flat Rock. North Carolina. His father, Carl Palmer of Fruitland Park Florida and Margarel Palmer were his parents.
