ANTHEM (AZ/3TV/CBS 5) — This is an annual holiday tradition. On Friday morning, Arizona’s largest fresh-cut Christmas tree arrived at Anthem. This is the 21st annual event.

The tree, which measured 70 feet tall and 20 feet wide, was transported by a flatbed truck 40 feet long from a California-Oregon specialty lot. The industrial crane will lift it into position. Santa Claus will be there to help kick off the season.

A team of 10 people will decorate and shape the tree over the next two weeks. This is no easy task. Along with 5,000 ornaments, bows, and more than 1.5 miles of LED lights (each containing 10,000 bulbs), the tree will be decorated. A copper ornament of three feet will be added to the tree. Arizona is known as the Copper State. The massive Christmas tree will weigh in at 4 tons when it is decorated.

Saturday, November 19th will be the 21st annual tree-lighting event and concert.
