He was Mr. Tony Lynn Holmes, aged 67, from Stanley Community. Stanley Community died peacefully at his home with his family on Wednesday, February. 15 2023.

Funeral service for the late the late Mr. Holmes will be held on the 17th of February. 18 between 2 and 3 p.m. at the Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will take place at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Meadows and Rev Merrill Davis will officiate.

Tony was born on August 29 1955 from Andalusia of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Holmes. He spent the rest of his life living in the Stanley Community, working with his dad in the field of cattle farming as well as working in the family’s company, Holmes Pecans. Tony was a student at Florala and graduated from high school in 1973.

After graduating, he started working in the family’s company, which included growing and marketing pecans, as well as raising cattle. He continued to do this to his demise. In 1973, he got to know his wife, who was the former Lynne Warren, and six months later, they were married. In the marriage, the following four kids: Brett and his wife Lori, Amanda and her husband Chris Inabinett, Ashley and her husband Justin Morgan, all of the Stanley Community, and Brandy and partner Paul Hudson of Andalusia; five grandchildren Andrew Holmes, Rylynne Inabinett, Avery Morgan, Ashlyn Morgan along with Audrey Inabinett.

A participant in the Red Oak Baptist Church, Tony also had a profound affection for baseball. He was a baseball coach in the Andalusia City League from 1983 to 1996. He also was an umpire for youth baseball in high schools for 17 seasons. He was a fan of fishing mullets in the Alabama River and was also skilled as a carpenter.

Tony took time for giving back the community he lived in. He was deputy sheriff under the former sheriffs Wilbur Mitchell and Anthony Clark. In the year of his death Tony was in an additional term in the office of County Commissioner in District 3.
