Calhoun County, AL Calhoun County, Alabama – Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has stated that around 5:57 pm on the 18th of February 2023, a detainee identified as Danielle Reynolds, 28, from Attalla who was on work release tried to flee. A correctional officer was leading the female inmates who were part of working release in order to transfer the trash to the landfill to be used at the Anniston facility when one of the prisoners started to flee from the facility. A correctional officer who was not able to pursue due to other inmates that were under his supervision. He alerted his dispatcher about the situation and demanded urgent assistance. It was the Anniston Police Department and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office immediate arrived at the scene and started a hunt for the suspect. After about one hour of searching, an unlocked door in the Sinclair gas station at 10th Street and Gurnee was noticed by deputies who responded. The deputies of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office gained access into the building. They could locate the Reynolds hidden in the bathroom. She was detained without incident.

She was a fugitive, Danielle Reynolds, was being held in the county jail for an unpaid probation violation. She was scheduled to serve for a period of 30 days. Reynolds had only two weeks left before her release after she attempted to get away. Reynolds is charged with escape 2nd degree and Burglary 3rd degree.

Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade, was proud of his deputies’ quick response and swift detention of the escapee. He also expressed gratitude to his colleagues from the Anniston Police Department for their rapid response and assistance in the search for Reynolds.
