Anniston City Council and the Anniston Runners Club are proud to announce that Anniston City Council and the Anniston Runners Club are proud to announce that Anniston has been designated an Runner Friendly City by Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) for 2022 to 2027! The goal of RRCA is to place a spotlight across the nation on the communities that are runners-friendly!The process of applying for this award evaluates several urban-wide aspects. The objective is to show that their communities work together to meet the requirements in order to have a secure running community.The designation of a “Runner-Friendly Community” lets everyone know that our city is home to the best pedestrian-friendly sidewalks as well as multi-use trails and pathways!This award is a huge honour for our community as we work to improve and enhance our outdoor facilities and recreational opportunities! We thank Anniston Runners Club for their leadership. Anniston Runners Club for leading the way in earning the city this prestigious recognition!

Bud Turner – 4708 Amberwood Lane
- The judge Bud Turner wanted to speak about parking at the courthouse. There were concerns that in a $50 million building , there are only 50 parking spaces. He also created an official calendar and looked at how many people could be using parking at time. Then, he presented the report to all council member for them to read.

Glen Ray – 3514 Dale Hollow Road
- The Mr. Ray wanted to acknowledge the Police Chief and express his gratitude to him for his service. He also wanted to mention that there are occasions where they must expect officers to be ethical and do their job. He also said that he will always assist if there was anything to be done.

Richard Jackson – 2317 Noble Street
- Mrs. Hill has been having frequent flooding issues every occasion it rains. The same thing is happening to her neighbors. Photos were also provided. The mayor requested the city to have an engineer examine the situation and determine what can be done to resolve the issues. Also, he wanted to discuss the Downtown Reimbursement Program. He’s requested that boundaries are extended to include more urban areas of Downtown Historic Anniston. He feels there is too little of west Anniston to be included. He also wanted to mention that on the 25th of April, the NAACP will be hosting an Black History Month Talent Show. This is only the beginning of many, and the goal is to make this an annual event.

Council Comments
- Council member Jenkins had no comments.
- Councilmember Roberts thanked everyone for attending and asked to all prayer for his city. Roberts acknowledged there were many aspects that aren’t controllable however there are plenty that could be controlled. He also said that there was an issue with guns. The chief also proposed that police chief to stop children hanging around that looked like they could get into trouble, to stop them and make sure there are no guns.
- Council member Harris was interested in highlighting the park’s initiatives Arts and entertainments, appeals procedure for trailheads, code enforcement Airport manager, lawsuit over opioids and the UAB condition with RMC. She wanted to be reminded of all the events taking place in Anniston.
- Council member Smith thank everyone for their time. She promised that Judge Turner she would look into the shared inflation. She also contacted the Mr. Ray to ensure that she was able to personally assist Mrs. Hill get connected with the appropriate city officials. She was not sure whether the issue was the city’s property or private, however, she was determined to follow up.
