Straughn Elementary School one of the First Class Pre-K programs across the state that accept online pre-registration forms for the school year 2023-2024 and the deadline is set for Wednesday, March 15.
Admission is open to youngsters aged four at or before September. 1st, 2023, who reside in Alabama. Kindergarten-age children are not in the program for pre-K. To pre-register, visit prek.alaceed.alabama.gov.
Students must submit an original copy of the birth certificate of the child and evidence of residency using either one of the two options either online through the pre-registration site and directly at the school. The proof of residence could be a valid utility bill or copy of an agreement to lease or mortgage.
Pre-K classes in public schools might have zoning rules which determine the eligibility to attend the program. Anyone with questions regarding the zone of attendance at SES must contact at the office of SES.
There is no fee for registration for the First Class Pre-K classes. After enrollment, the child’s vaccination record has to be submitted to the school in question. The child cannot be excluded from participation based on the income, sex or race, color the national origin or disability.
The acceptance in the first Class Pre-K program is only by drawing a number. Parents and/or guardians don’t need to attend the time of drawing.
The random drawing for this year will be held on Friday March 17 at 12 noon. It will be held by the Covington County Board of Education, located at 807 CC Baker Avenue in Andalusia. Notices of acceptance status via email will be sent in the middle of April.
