A Andalusia native was among the murdered in the quadruple murder Daphne, Alabama Wednesday.
Sheila Glover, 71, was a close friend of the family and frequently went to visit with the Smith family members in Daphne. It was there on Wednesday, when the murders happened that killed her as well as three others.
Daphne police have said that Jared Tarant Smith-Bracy, 21 admitted to the murders that included his grandparents Barbara Smith, 72, and Lenard Smith, who was 80 and his brother Jeremy Smith, 27. Smith-Bracy is accused of four counts of capital crime.
Glover had been a U.S. Army veteran, having served for 22 years. She was a retired postal worker in Mobile. Glover lived in Andalusia during her time when she was an adult, before purchasing an apartment in Daphne where she resided for the next 20 years.
The sister of Rose White Parker from Andalusia spoke of how Glover was a committed Jehovah’s Witness , who is always eager to assist others.
“My sister was among the most charming people you’d wish to get acquainted with,” White-Parker said. “She was an incredibly Christian person who could hand you a shirt she had on her back. All you needed to do was request.
Glover is one of eleven siblings. Eight girls and three boys.
“Anyone who knew her will be able to never forget. She never had to meet anyone who was not familiar with her. She would walk into her neighborhood and be a witness to others. She was a woman with a heart of pure gold.” White-Parker commented.
As police arrived at the site at the Daphne home, Glover, along with Barbara and Jeremy were found in the backyard of the residence on number 123 Melanie Loop, each having been wounded by gunshots. The grandfather was discovered in the house having been murdered by the axe. Police say they believe that Smith-Bracy was back in the backyard, where he bludgeoned other victims with an Axe.
Smith-Bracy was indicted earlier the day, around 9 a.m. He was charged with the charge of criminal mischief for causing damage to a door in the house. Smith-Bracy was released from the jail at the end of the day and taken to the prison by a relative. He was allegedly found with the friend’s firearm when he got out of the vehicle. The driver hasn’t been taken into custody and police have said they were not aware of the intentions of Smith-Bracy.

Smith-Bracy is accused of 4 counts of capital murder, and the judge denied him bond at a hearing held on Friday.
Smith-Bracy was not granted bail during an early morning hearing on Friday. The Assistant District Attorney Teresa Heinz said more time is required to decide whether to pursue the death penalty for Smith-Bracy.
