Hairspray was the winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical it is a fun family musical that is brimming with love, laughter, and the most deliriously melodious songs. The year is 1962, in Baltimore and the adorable large teen Tracy Turnblad is a teen with only one wish: to be a dancer on the cult “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream is fulfilled, Tracy is transformed from socially marginalized to a glamorized celebrity. A dance and get-up musical which “Welcomes back to 1960s!” Hairspray also reminds us that “dancing with others” is a constant endeavor and requires effort as well as some of Tracy’s unwavering enthusiasm. Tracy has to make use of her new power to oust her dominant Teen Queen, gain the love of the most popular heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate with a television network…all without affecting her hairstyle!
