Schools in Juneau will let students one hour earlier on Wednesday due to the snow.
Students will leave at 12:30 p.m. in elementary schools and at two p.m. in middle and other optional programs , and 2.45 p.m. at high school according to a news announcement issued by Juneau School District. Juneau School District.
Many after school programs have been cancelled, including JAMM, RALLY, after-school pre-K , and high school practice for sports. The activity bus for Middle School won’t operate. First Student, the district’s bus service, has been using snow routes, and is telling parents to prepare for delays.
Basketball games for high school are scheduled to be played in the same manner as they are scheduled. The Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears are scheduled to take on against the Thunder Mountain Falcons at 7:15 p.m. at the Juneau-Douglas High School.
A few parents from Juneau have taken to social media to inquire about why the school district didn’t inform students to stay in school on Wednesday morning. In a note to parents, the district’s leaders apologized for any delay.

The City and Borough of Juneau offices and facilities will be closed around 1.30 p.m. Wednesday. which includes the city hall, libraries for public use as well as pools, the Juneau Douglas City Museum Treadwell Arena and the Zach Gordon Youth Center.
The city Bus services is shut down at Cordova Street, Franklin and Fourth Street downtown.
