Dear Editor,
Who do you trust? I’m not thinking about the political leaders. I’m thinking of people. The fact that they attend church is just as important as their political affiliation. It is important to know if they place their beliefs over evidence. Do they place Tribe over Truth? If they’re unwilling to consider the evidence, then the answer is be wary. We all decide the things we believe in. However, if we’re not willing trust our evidence We can’t believe in ourselves. There is a temptation to do it. You’ll recognize who I’m talking about because we’re closely related to them. They are our neighbors and friends. They are very nice people.
Are you looking for examples? Consider someone who is willing to believe the claims of their preferred “fact” sources. However, they should not listen to testimony that is sworn under oath, if they feel that it is contrary to their beliefs. False testimony is not a violation of the law. It is illegal to lie under oath. It’s the reason why many people take every step to stay clear of it. The truth is made stronger by cross-examination. more believable. If you know the truth, want to know, you shouldn’t be watching.
Do you know someone who would not attend the hearings on January 6th even if they had the chance? I have many acquaintances. They even email me uncorroborated reports they discover online. If it is in line with the beliefs they are accustomed to then they take it for it’s gospel.
Every propogandist knows that if you repeatedly repeat a lie people will accept it as truth. We are witnessing today the ease with which lies are spread. Many believe that the last president’s election was stolen because of allegations that are not supported by any evidence. Joseph Goebbels once said: “The more ridiculous the lie the lie, the more people will be convinced.” The Q-Anon conspiracies anyone? Voltaire was a writer during the time of terror that followed the French Revolution over 200 years back: “If you can get people to believe that absurdity they can be induced into committing inhumane acts.” Remember the 6th of January. The times might have changed. However, people haven’t.
If you’ve been watching the evidence closely that the former president was aware that his defeat in the 2020 election, yet he was (and is) insisting that he won’t. He is aware of his target audience. There are two kinds of people types of people: those who believe in the things he says because they want to be deceived as well as people who don’t even care if it’s true , because they’re looking for to be in power. So, don’t put the blame on the poor Donald for anything. It was simply the first tumor. The cancer has been able to metastasize. They are also easy to detect.
