Donoho’s team of baseball players came out with another victory and Peyton Webb came away with an all-time school record on Friday. Webb scored two home runs in breaking the school record for career wins and the Falcons defeated Faith Christian 8-2. Webb’s home runs of two earned him 13 in his career, surpassing the record established by 2022 student Slade Haney. Webb hit 2-for-4 with three RBIs during the day. Lucas Elliott went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs and Nic Thompson scored a homer and scored three runs. Marcus Lawler and Elliott got it finished in the circle. Lawler started and gave up two hits in five innings, with 10 strikeouts as well as three walk. Elliott took on for the last two innings, giving up three hits, one strikeout and four walks.
In the Class 2A rankings, ranked fourth on the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll Donoho’s score was increased to 12-1. To support Faith, Brady Whitworth went 2-for-2 and scored one run. Carson Limbaugh and Will Smith scored one hit and RBI each. Limbaugh hit an RBI double.
MADISON Academy 4. PIEDMONT 1McClane Mohon as well as Sloan Smith each had one of the two hits for Piedmont. Jack Hayes went the distance on the mound, handing out four hits as well as four earned runs, four walks, with two strikeouts in six innings of work against Madison Academy (14-10), one of the teams that received votes in the Class 5A. Piedmont (13-5) ranks as No. #3 in the three-a.
16 MUNFORD, LINCOLN 6:Alex Petty scored a home run and double , and scored four runs in the game as Munford defeated Talladega County rival Lincoln. Petty was also forced to pitch 4 1/3 of an inning, giving up two hits, with 7 strikeouts and no walk. Mason Brewer also had four RBIs, while going 4-for-5 for the day. Jonathan Ponder had two doubles and was 3-for-4, scoring 3 runs as well as an RBI and Conner Fisher doubled and drove two runs. Brody Stephens also drove in two runs.
