Calhoun County, AL –Per Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade on April 4, 2023, at around 8:30 p.m. at which time the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office received an account of a domestic conflict between a father and his adult child at Kindle Way in Ohatchee. There was a report of a victim shot by a gun. Ohatchee P.D. was the first to arrive, helping with the Sheriff’s Office with the response. The officer located a male lying in the front yard , with an injury from a gunshot to the chest. Another male was lying on the front porch of the home suffering an trauma to his hip.

The officer located a firearm from the man who was on the porch, and rendered assistance to the shooter. The ambulance and deputies arrived at the site and immediately began helping and an investigation.

The male who was injured who was on his porch Morris Morrison a 67-year-old white male homeowner. The shooter was Zachary Morrison a 30-year-old white male who was the child of the homeowners.

The shooter was airlifted to UAB hospital with injuries, while the home owner Morris Morrison was transported to RMC in an ambulance with hip injuries.

The preliminary evidence of the investigation is based on witness testimony and footage of an incident in which Zachary Morrison the son was at his elderly father. In the course of the fight the father fired an assault weapon, striking his son. The investigation continues to discover all the details of the incident.

The case has not been yet filed. Both patients are currently being treated at their respective hospitals.
