White Plains Cassidy Arnold and Haylie Smith hit home runs as White Plains downed Anniston 19-1 in the first round in the class 4A area 10 tournament.

Arnold was 2-for-2, scoring five RBIs and three runs Arnold was 2-for-2 with five RBIs and three runs, while Smith was 3-for-3 and had two RBIs and three runs.

White Plains also got two triples with a double, two triples as well as four RBIs off Kannon Slaughter. He pitched a one-hitter, with six strikeouts in just three innings.

White Plains (26-14) advanced into the winners’ bracket and will play Jacksonville next Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE 3 CHEROKEE COUNTY 1: Carli Fritts pitched her third inning and 12 strikeouts. Jacksonville (13-14) moved to the bracket for winners.

Fritts, Dailyn Wood and Sara Kate Adams each had three of Jacksonville’s hits. Keelie Leach was one of the Golden Eagles’ lone RBI.

Oxford SPLITS:Oxford (26-9) opened by winning 18-0 against Gadsden City but fell into the elimination bracket following the loss of 5-3 in the final against Pell City at the class 6A Area 12 tournament held at Choccolocco Park.

Reagan Sanders went 2-for-2 with two RBIs against Pell City in addition, Justice Woods had a triple and an RBI however, Pell City gained the lead with three runs in seventh inning’s top of the seventh.

Berkley Mooney pitched an entire game, allowing the batter to hit eight times and allowed three runs. He also had 12 strikes with five walks.

In the game against Gadsden City Raina Zachery pitched just a single hitter with six strikeouts. She also hit the triple. Woods hit an inside-the-park grand slam and Adajiah was able to homer and scored three RBIs.

Regular season

ALEXANDRIA 23 PLASANT VALLEY 6The Valley Cubs (23-18) hit four home runs in the season’s final regular-season game for both teams.

Jill Cockrell, Lauren Weber, Pressley Slaton and Charlee Parris all hit home runs. Slaton was credited with five RBIs. Cockrell, Weber and Parris each had four RBIs.

Cockrell also scored the triple, while Parris hit two doubles. Weber as well as Brenlee Sparks both hit two doubles as Alexandria struck out 17 hits.

To win for Pleasant Valley (15-12), Lily Henry homered and drove two runs. Madyson Cromer scored an RBI and a double. RBI. Henry as well as Macey Roper scored three hits each, while Emma Harvey had two.

OHATCHEE Splits:Ohatchee beat Jacksonville Christian 9-1, but lost 6-5 to Woodland 6-5.

When playing against JCA, Hannah Fitch struck out five batters, and she allowed five hits over five innings. Both she and Alyssa Davis each scored one hit and RBI and Tabi Davidson hit a double and scored two runs.

Woodland led with two runs in upper portion in the 4th. Leah Williamson finished with two hits which included an individual homer, while McKenzie McCormick had two doubles and an RBI.
