Most important player Lily Henry’s three-run double was the catalyst for Pleasant Valley’s five-run seventh innings as the Raiders defeated Woodland’s five-run rout at the end of the game to win 15=13 to win the championship in Class 2A, Area 9 tournament championship.

Pleasant Valley (17-13) as well as Woodland (21-13) have advanced into the next round of East Regional at Albertville.

Henry’s double at the seventh inning’s top provided Pleasant Valley an advantage of 13-8 However, the Raiders required more. Gracee Ward’s RBI single gave them 14-8. It turned out to be the winning shot in the seventh, in the end, as Woodland scored five hits in the final frame of the seventh.

Gannaway hit twice in the second game that was decisive and scored four runs. Henry’s two hits, which included two doubles, were accompanied by four RBIs.

ALEXANDRIA 13 1.Host Alexandria (24-18) quickly defeated Lincoln on Tuesday, advancing to an end and prolong this Valley Cubs’ streak of regional appearances.

Alexandria will take on the Central-Clay Lincoln winner in Thursday’s regional finals, but it has already secured a spot at the next round of the East Regional at Albertville. It is the first time that Valley Cubs had reached the regional championship for 22 years in a row, spanning the fast-pitch era of the program.

Alexandria has won state titles in Class 4A in 2014 and 2004 and was also a the Class 5A runner-up in 2022.
