Calhoun County, AL Calhoun County, AL Edwards Medalist when White Plains’ boys take the title and medalist Ledbetter is leading Weaver the boys in second place; Piedmont boys win fourth place to also qualify for the sub-state tournament.
Sawyer Edwards’ medalist performance set the tone on Tuesday when White Plains’ boys won the Class 4A Section 3 championship in Twin Bridges.
For 3A in Section 3, also at Twin Bridges, low medalist Nick Ledbetter led Weaver took second place. Piedmont was fourth. Both teams qualified for the sub-state competition.
White Plains shot 305 to beat second-place Etowah by 50 strokes and Edwards’ 70 was three strokes better than Wyatt Cotney’s teammate’s 74.
Zach Limberis shot a 91 for Jacksonville who finished 6 strokes down on fourth-place finisher and last sub-state qualifying DAR.
Ledbetter shot an 71 to beat the field by 10 strokes. Weaver ended up at 362, which was 24 strokes behind of champion sectional Westbrook Christian. Jackson Williams shot a 91.
Piedmont scored 389 points. Alex Odam led the Bulldogs with 85. Conner Williams shot 95.

Section 3: Class 4A-5A. girls
Avery Prickett shot an 84 and Marlee Hedgepeth a score of 85. Alexandria won the sectional with a an overall scores of 262.
White Plains finished second, 16 strokes behind. Isabel Rodgers shot a 78 to be tied with the low medalist. Rachel Gattis shot a 99.
Both teams were able to qualify for sub-state competition.
Section 3 of Class 5A. boys
In the Eagle’s Nest in Guntersville, Alexandria shot 342 and was second, seven strokes ahead of Southside. They Valley Cubs qualified for sub-state.
Fisher Prichard led Alexandria at 80. He was placed fourth just one stroke behind fellow teammate Cleat Forrest.
Southside’s Justin Lavoy was low medalist at 77.
Class 6A Section 3 boys
The course at Cider Ridge, Oxford shot 336 and qualified for sub-state by scoring an 18 strokes shy of the the champion Mountain Brook’s pace, and 12 strokes back of runner-up Homewood.
Its Oxford’s Cohen Picton shot 78, four strokes ahead of the co-medalists Carter Brooks and Christopher Yielding who are from Mountain Brook.
Oxford’s Nic Boyd scored 84.
Class 6A Section 3 girls
In Cider Ridge, Oxford shot 335 and placed third and qualified for sub-state. Annabelle Page led the Yellow Jackets with 92 points and was finishing third.
Section 3: Class 1A-3A boys
On the Flat Rock’s Dogwood Hills Golf Course, Pleasant Valley’s Zeke Curvin shot an 86 to earn a spot in the sub-state championship. It was a great day for golf. find more sports news stories ….here.
