There was never a crowd in the case of the Calhoun County Quarterback Club handing the $5,000 scholarships and for the four the more.
The club presented recipients from 2023 Chris Ferguson (Ohatchee), Drew Pridgen (Jacksonville) and Grayson Johnson (Wellborn) at the luncheon held on Tuesday. Saks’ Owen Petty did not attend the luncheon held at Anniston Country Club.
The club’s quarterbacks gave away four scholarships only for two times in the history of its club, the former club captain and chairman Danny Shears said.

The additional $5,000 will help bring him closer to getting a full-time education.
“It’s going to benefit tremendously,” he said. “I am very grateful to the team’s quarterbacks for this initiative.”
Pridgen, an outstanding player in baseball and football at Jacksonville was awarded an merit-based scholarship of $2,500 per year. Auburn.
“Something similar to this would be an enormous amount of money of time for the beginning two years,” the player said. “That’ll aid a lot with my other siblings and me struggling to make it to college.” It’s a great way to Read more stories about sports…]
