The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce presented Wyatt Sasser Construction with its top prize and live peace lily in honor of the month of April’s Clean and Green Initiative on Tuesday May 2.
This program was organized within the Clean Up Covington County Litter Round Up.
“We decided to take part in the current Clean and Green Initiative because we’re always trying to find ways to be more involved in our community and help others. This was the best opportunity to do so and also help the environment. The Trash Collect of the Year award is truly a prestigious satisfaction for the team at Trash Collect,” Administrative Assistant Bekah Harrelson stated.
As per Harrelson the staff gathered 11 bags of litter.
“To be honest, we were amazed by the award as 11 bags appeared to be a tiny amount. We are hoping to significantly grow that number in the coming year. It is crucial to make sure that our planet is clean because it is our home and is full of resources we have to protect. The goal of keeping it litter-free is only a tiny part of it, she stated. .”
A peace lily they win will be displayed in the foyer of the hotel for guests and staff to delight in.
Harrelson declared that WSC adopted a different approach in the contest this year.
“We actually created it as an competition in the WSC office, which I named”the WSC Litter Getter Olympics. Vice president Calvin Sasser issued a challenge to participants who had the highest contribution receive cash prizes. The first prize was $300, followed by $200 to second place, and 100 for the third spot. It was a decent motivational factor. Calvin was the winner of first place along with Levi Sasser in second and Cristin Murphy third. The goal is for the number of participants to grow each season,” the woman said.
