    regarding the decision to cancel “Alaska Daily”

    • The TV network ABC released its schedule for fall earlier in the day. It does not include new shows on television that are scripted. In the aftermath of last week’s Writers Guild of America strike The network, as per The Hollywood Reporter, “leaning all towards its unscripted lineup …”

      Another show that isn’t included in the lineup for autumn “Alaska Daily.” The show was canceled last week after an unfinished first season of 11 episodes.

      The cancellation directly affects one Local Juneau author, Vera Starbard. She is well-known for her work for PBS’s “Molly of Denali” is a show that plays on Perseverance and other shows, such as “Devilfish” along with “Our Voices Will Be Heard” Vera was on the writing team for “Alaska Daily” and wrote the final episode.

      Host Rhonda McBride spoke with Vera about the moment she was informed of the show’s cancellation, what effects the show had on viewers and the lessons Vera learned from her time in the show.


  • The Chapter for the Tongass of Trout Unlimited The Community Fly Night for Casting

    • The Tongass Chapter of Trout Unlimited is a non-profit organization that focuses on preserving the local resources for fishing, particularly the populations of wild trout and salmon along with their environment. On Thursday, they’ll be hosting a free Fishing night for the community in Twin Lakes from 6:00-8:00 pm.


  • the Juneau The Dance Theater’s Fine Arts Camp

    • Juneau Fine Arts Camp has been running every year since 1977. It is a multi-disciplinary day program offering half-day or full-day options for kids in the kindergarten through sixth grade (though they can also accommodate seventh graders). The camp is held at JDHS: Yadaa.at Kale from June 5 to 30. The school offers classes in music, art dance, sports and science. The classes include kaleidoscopes macrame, jewelry making nature journaling, choreography as well as ukulele, costume monsters Surrealist arts, paracord jewellery circuitry, soccer.
