ACLU is suing Phoenix of destroying property belonging to homeless people

The ACLU of Arizona wants a federal judge to declare Phoenix city officials in contempt. Phoenix in contempt of court for allegedly confiscating and destroying belongings of people who are not shelters who reside in the Zone during a sweep that took place on May 10. The ACLU filed the petition on May 16,, as negotiations for settlements stalled in a federal lawsuit currently pending against the city and a couple of days after city workers took down a portion of the homeless camp in downtown Phoenix.
