A suspect against whom is the Andalusia police department has an arrest warrant for the murder of October was detained at the state of Indiana Wednesday.
An officer from the Indiana State Police stopped a red Ford Focus for speeding Wednesday. In the course in the pursuit the trooper Corey Bell discovered that the driver, Teddy Donnell Cozart, 20, from Andalusia was wanted for homicide on an outstanding Alabama warrant for murder.
Andalusia Police Chief Paul Hudson said Cozart is suspect in the October 19th, 2022 death of Teyvous Cobbins who was 22 from Evergreen.
As officers responded in response to gunfire reports in an apartment complex called the Foxwood Village Apartments that evening the police discovered Cobbins with a gunshot wound lying in a vehicle in the parking area of the complex. Cobbins was taken by ambulance to Andalusia Health, and later transported by helicopter to the Florida Trauma center. He was pronounced dead the following day.
Indiana troopers detained Cozart and took Cozart to Delaware County (Indiana) Jail and he is awaiting transfer to Alabama.
