Montgomery, AL –Governor Kay Ivey earlier this week signed House Bill 261 which limits transgender athletes from playing sports at universities and colleges that are public with their biological sexual. In the wake of this latest step to safeguard female athletes, the Governor Ivey made the following announcement:
“Look at it this way, if you’re an biological male, you’re not allowed to compete in girls’ or women’s sporting events in Alabama. Fairness is the key simply and plain.” – Governor Kay Ivey
Governor Ivey has previously approved legislation in 2021 to prohibit biological boys from participating in sports for girls between the ages of 12 and 12. Alabama continues to stand up for female athletes at every level and ensuring the integrity of sports.
