We are investing into our four-year and two-year colleges. Thanks to the hard work by the Alabama Legislature we will continue to make these smart investments as we pay down our the burden of debt, adding to our savings, and bringing the Alabamans who work funds back to them via tax rebates. “As I stated during my State of State address, we are proud that in my tenure as governor, we’ve not used the term proration. We have also not exceeded our resources. I am equally pleased to declare today by signing my endorsement on 2024’s General Fund that positive trend will continue. Alabama’s record-breaking 3 billion General Fund is generational money which allows for higher investments in vital public services, while additionally assisting in the reduction of debt to limit the effect of a future recession. This historic budget is significant for Alabama. It will have a positive impact on the operations of many agencies, from State Troopers to protect our roads to mental health specialists. The budget will help them fulfill the vital work they perform while rewarding their hard-working with an important pay increase. The budget’s strong commitment for our residents is as strong as the bipartisanship of our lawmakers in delivering it quickly onto my desk.
