Jacksonville, AL Jacksonville, AL Per Madison Parker with the JSU Media Department JSU Media Department JSU has placed 6th in a worldwide competition. The competition is known as the “Olympics of supply chain analytics,” students in CBA 390: Operations Management at Jax State recently went head-to-head with over 70 teams from around the globe at the 19th Annual MIT Sloan Operations Simulation Contest.

Operations management is an essential course for JSU senior business students and juniors. It gives students the chance to work on real-world issues and provides them with strategies to deal with these issues.

A pair of teams in the class played against universities like The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley and Johns Hopkins University. Jax State’s Jax State team “JSU CBI” comprising Lucas Pennington, Xun Chen, Qian Gao and Noah Grady was ranked in the sixth position. Team “Vodane” comprised of Ricardo Duarte and Michael Frankum – finished 13th.

“I am extremely pleased with their achievements.” the Dr. Yajun Lu, assistant professor of management and advisor to the faculty of each team. “This is the very first opportunity to JSU CBI students to participate in the Operations Simulation Contest, and both teams did an outstanding job. Through this competition, students are able to gain an understanding of the operational management’s contribution to helping businesses achieve success. Of course, their accomplishment in the category of best teams at this competition helps raise the profile and credibility of JSU and CBI in the world of operations.”
