Phoenix police are investigating a hit and run that left a woman dead near 26th Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday morning.
According to a Phoenix police report, officers were dispatched to the scene just before 3:45 AM on Tuesday in response to reports that a woman was lying on the road.
Officers arrived to find Kathleen McGuire (61-year-old) unresponsive on the ground, with obvious signs that she had suffered trauma. Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Phil Krynsky stated.
Krynsky stated that witnesses told officers that the woman was hit by a passenger car with four doors that fled the scene after the collision.
McGuire was treated by the Phoenix Fire Department, but she was later declared dead on the spot.
The investigation was then taken over by detectives. Initial information suggests that a sedan of dark color was travelling west on Jackson Street and struck McGuire as she lay in the roadway. Robert Scherer stated.
After the collision, the sedan fled the scene.
As detectives continued their investigation, the roadway was closed.
Other information was not released.
