Andalusia Health Services, Inc. is a private foundation, recently gave an amount in the amount of 100,000 dollars to local nonprofit organisations.
The money was distributed to 13 organisations that include American Red Cross, Camp ASCAA, Crossover Ministries, Megan Kelley Smiles Foundation, South Central Alabama Mental Health Center, Andalusia Lions Club, Covington County Child Advocacy Center, Embrace Alabama Kids, Meredith’s Miracles, Bethesda House, Covington County Health Department, LBW Community College, and Sav-A-Life.
Andalusia Health Services (HS) is a not-for-profit entity principally granting grants for Covington County residents pursuing careers in the health service field. The scholarships are awarded in the spring each year, with funds sent to the selected institution or college for the autumn semester. The deadline to submit applications for scholarships will be March 31.
The funds for these scholarships is derived from the proceeds of the sale of Andalusia Hospital in 1980.
Directors and officers of Andalusia Health Services include the Dr. James Krudop, president; Ivan Bishop, immediate past president; Phillip Jones, vice-president; Carolyn Graham, secretary and treasurer Cathy Alexander; Wayne Bennett; Diaon Cook; Chrissie Duffy; Joe Proctor; Charles Roland as well as Elizabeth Starr.
The scholarship committee comprises Shirley Smith, chair; Ziba Anderson; Regina Bass; Ted Watson along with Jana Wyatt.
