After his conviction for the murder of Faith Rogers, Anthony Michael Migliaccio appeared in court Tuesday. Anna Ambrose, his lawyer, entered a not guilty plea. She agreed to a readiness hearing Dec. 28.

Rogers was a Juneau-based substance abuse counselor. He was discovered dead on Sept. 21 at the Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei or Brotherhood Bridge Trailspan styling=”font weight: 400 ;”>. Migliaccio was taken into custody in connection to her Nov. 24 killing, but she has been held in custody since Sept. 29, for an unrelated matter.

Migliaccio was last week indicted on two counts for second-degree murder as well as one count of manslaughter. His earlier charge of first-degree murder was not against him.

A jury trial for Ambrose and Migliaccio would be held in February if they decide to go on trial at the Dec. 28 hearing. Judge Marianna Carpeneti stated that the defense may need more time due to the severity of the charges span>

Jessalyn Gilum, District Attorney, also admitted that the case could take a while to go to trial. Due to the backlog of cases related to the pandemic, other cases similar to this one have taken years.

Migliaccio is currently being held at Lemon Creek Correctional Center under a $500,000 bond.
