Julyau Assembly Member Carole Triem is resigning from her position, starting on July 10.
A press release issued by City and Borough of Juneau spokesperson Meredith Thatcher said Triem was moving out of her seat to take care of family members with medical conditions.
Triem is a member of the Assembly in the year 2018 and currently chaired the Finance Committee. Her departure means that the four Assembly seats to be contested during the municipal election in October. Two of these seats will be statewide.
The three-year period will be awarded to the person who received the highest number of votes. the person who gets the second-highest number of votes will be able to serve for the remaining two years of Triem’s tenure.
The news release issued by the city expressed gratitude to Triem for her dedication and stated that she “sincerely would like to continue to be a champion for the cats and swimming pools but they are not in the same location.”
