The Covington County Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the possibility of a frontal weather system which could bring isolated storms and severe winds to the area on Sunday.

The CCEMA stated that there’s a possibility of severe to intense thunderstorms across parts of the forecast area from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night, mostly in the form of destructive winds. The most likely regions that will be affected are in the interior regions of south-central and southwestern Alabama. Alongside the threat of severe storms an unwelcome flash flooding threat could occur across southern Mississippi to southwest Alabama in which 1 or 3 inches rainfall could fall between Saturday and Sunday night.

The front of the storm is expected to bring winds gusts of as high as 60 miles per hour.

As as of the end of Friday Covington County remained in the “marginal” zone of risk However, this could alter as the front moves on.
