The brief return to dry conditions will only last until Sunday night, when a “strong storm system” pushes into Arizona.
“We’re starting the weekend off well, we’re looking at mostly sunny skies Saturday with highs in mid-60s across the Valley. Isaac Smith, National Weather Service Phoenix meteorologist said.
Friday will be sunny and warm with a high of 64.
Sunday may see some clouds changing.
“A similar start to Sunday but we will see rain chances increase as we move into Sunday night. We can expect showers to increase by around 60% from Sunday night through Monday. Smith stated.
Showers are expected to continue through Monday morning, mainly before 11:05 a.m. The south/southwest will likely see winds of 5-10 mph.
It is not surprising that colder temperatures will not abate even after rain.
Smith stated that colder temperatures will arrive later in the week to early next week. We expect Monday’s highs to reach the mid-to upper 50s. We’ll be watching for lows in Phoenix to drop into the 30s as we move into Monday night and Tuesday night.
Also, temperatures exceedingly cold are something to be aware of, particularly in the Valley.
“Even the outskirts Phoenix could get closer to freezing at times next weeks,” Smith said. Smith stated.
According to the NWS Phoenix office’s tweet, there is a 90% chance that temperatures will dip below freezing in areas like Tucson, Globe, Payson and Payson.
