It’s the Aak’wRock Indian Music Festival will take place from September 21-23. The lineup, which includes Snotty Nose Rez Kids, was just announced on the show today. Juneau Afternoon you will get a whole hour preview of the upcoming festival. Qacung Blanchett, and Neilga Koogei Revels join host Bostin Christopher to talk about the festival, listen to some of the music and look ahead to the 24 artists that are on the lineup!
Aak’w Rock is an annual three-day Indigenous music festival that takes place in the ancestral home of the Aak’w K’wan (People from the Lake) in the area of Dzantik’iheeni (River In the The Base of Flounder [HillIt is located in the Dzantik’iheeni region (River At The) as well called Juneau, Alaska. This region is located in Alaska is the ancestral territory that belongs to people of the Lingit (Tlingit) country and their people. Aak’w Rock is a showcase of Indigenous performing arts from all over the globe. The festival is hosted by the Tlingit & Haida the tribal government as well as the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council. The past few years have seen a lot of funding from state, national as well as regional sponsors.
