The Alabama Department of Transportation would like to inform motorists of the resurfacing of U.S. Highway 84 in Covington County begins Tuesday on July 25 subject to weather conditions.
The project will comprise the resurfacing of roads and a new stripe along U.S. Highway 84, from Alabama Highway 9 in Opp up to the Coffee County line. Road closures and lower speeds are expected during the construction period and motorists must plan accordingly and be aware of the other drivers and equipment that are in the area of work.
The roughly $3.2 million construction project was given the project to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. from Dothan which had the lowest bid and met the requirements for the project. The project is anticipated to be completed by fall 2023.
