Anniston, AL –On Friday, July 21, Anniston, AL – On Friday July 21st the Calhoun County Beautification Board, (CCBB) hosted an annual luncheon to honor winners at Anniston County Club. Anniston County Club. The luncheon celebrated 10 commercial, residential, or civic winners who have made the effort to work towards making Calhoun County a more beautiful place to live, work and play in. The awards were given by the commission district.
Dr. David West, CCBB Advisor and Calhoun County Extension Office Coordinator welcomed guests and Tim Taylor a board member for district two, gave the invocation. Commission Chair Fred Wilson, Commissioner Danny Shears and Commissioner Terry Howell, Tax Commissioner Barry Robertson, and Calhoun County Extension Representative Carmelita Davis were honored for attending the occasion. The attendees were then rewarded with a meal served in a formal setting and encouraged to speak and meet other people in the local community they might be in the same room with. Belinda York, Board President along with Sarah Pritchett, Board member from District 2 handed out each award.

Dr. David West presented closing remarks. Chairman Danny Shears spoke and stated that he was grateful for the hard work and effort all of the participants put into making improvements to Calhoun County. He pointed out that many people do not take pride in their homes, and the effort that is recognized today encourages others. Commission member Terry Howell that often city and county officials have to deal with the negative aspects of code enforcement and abatements which is why it’s a great time to be able to celebrate our beautiful county. Commission Chair Fred Wilson stated the was delighted to witness his wife Mrs. Young, win. Also, he wanted to thank the Mrs. Dunn, Pappy Dunn’s wife for being there.
