Jacksonville, AL –On July 28, the JSU Department of Art and Design as well as The Jacksonville Arts Council (JAC) presented the 2nd Annual JSU community Art Show. The show was a big success and the gallery packed with people. Morgan Worsham, Gallery Coordinator of JSU was interviewed by the Calhoun Journal and shared that, “This was our 2nd Calhoun County Community Art Show The first one was in the year 2019. Because of the pandemic, we were forced to put our regular plans for the show in limbo, however after the event’s success last night, we’re hopeful of making this an annual event that will be held every summer! There were more than sixty entries in this event, ranging from glass to painting. JSU’s Associate Professor in Printmaking Sarah Ellis, and I judged the entries. We use a juried process due to the space limitations at the exhibition. The feedback was mostly positive and we are grateful for the talent and generosity from Calhoun County.”

Nancy Gillespie, JAC Board President said “We thank everyone who came in and showed up for the celebration.” The Jacksonville City Council Member Sherry Laster also spoke with Calhoun Journal. Calhoun Journal and shared, “I was impressed by the partnership between JSU and the JAC along with JSU. What a wonderful opportunity to show the various styles of artists that are talented and creative and incredibly amazing. We are extremely lucky to have the university to host art exhibitions and bring the community together and create new connections with the school. Overall, it’s a great method to encourage the arts within the community.”
