Washington D.C. –U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) is a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, last week, joined her colleagues to advance the Fiscal year 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development as well as the Related Agencies Appropriations Bill which contains more than $40 million that was secured through Senator Britt to modernize and improve transportation infrastructure across Alabama.

In the bill that was introduced, Senator Britt focused on investing in the most important Alabama issues, including the improvement of roads in rural areas regional airports and infrastructure for ports in the inland region, which will improve safety while stimulating economic development and generating jobs for local communities.

Senator Britt also backed a programming language in the bill which would allocate $20 million to fund the National Scenic Byways program and $350 million for the Appalachian Development Highway System (ADHS) which comprises Birmingham Northern Beltline. Birmingham Northern Beltline. Alabama is home to the largest number of unfinished miles left of any state within the system. It is expected to be able to get around $30 million from the overall ADHS budget.

Every child, regardless of their address is entitled to achieve the opportunity to live their American Dream, and investing carefully and responsibly into Alabama’s 21 21st century infrastructure requirements is essential to make this happen. I am looking forward to working with an Appropriations Committee to bring Alabamians taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars back to the state in order that every community in the state can achieve its full potential.” added Senator Britt.

The FY 2024 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development along with Related Agencies Approval Billnow goes towards the entire Senate to be considered by the Senate.
