I’ve bought a variety of publications from writers who have held local book signings at local businesses as well as from conferences I’ve been to. Recently, I was able to hear Joan Lunden speak and she signed her book “A Candid Conversation on Aging” for me.
Some many years ago I attended an event for local book-signings to purchase an autobiography written by an author who wrote about how to overcome the grief of losing the loss of a child. Our friendship had been established years prior and he was able to recall having a conversation with us and our families. I asked him to sign his work. Later, I read the letter that he wrote to our family, thanking us for being friends and going on this journey with them throughout the “Garden of Gethsemane.”
The fact that the author was the one who wrote the book made the tale even more significant. It’s a rare chance for readers to meet a writer -or even know the writer in person. Then it came to me that I’ve got a an intimate relationship to the writer of my favourite book, the top-selling book ever.
God’s Word God communicates to me like any other book. “God’s Book is God’s voice” as per Chuck Swindoll. During the most difficult times of my life, I’ve been able to find comfort in passages such as Psalm 23 and John 14.
Swindoll continues to state, “There can be no more trustworthy authority on the planet than the Word of God, The bible.” Jesus in His prayer in His behalf for his followers declared, “Your Word is truth” (John 17:17). It provides the answers to the questions we have about life, if we look through for them in the Scriptures. No whatever the circumstance take a look at the Bible for a trustworthy source.
The Apostle Paul spoke of God’s Word when he stated the following “all Scripture is given by the inspiration by God and is useful as a source of doctrine, for reproof and correction, as well as for admonishment in righteousness” to ensure that Christians are complete and fully equipped for any task (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It wasn’t written with human thinking. The people who wrote the Bible were “moved by the Holy Spirit” and”spoke directly from God” (2 Peter 1:20).
God’s word has no expiration date. Isaiah 40:8 declares, “The grass withers, the flowers die, but the words of God is eternal. God is eternal.” Our God God created the world and all that is in it into being. Hebrews 11:3 tells us that “By faith, we know that the worlds were created by the words from God.”
“For God’s word God is powerful and living and more sharp than any two-edged weapon that can penetrate even to the division between spirit and soul, as well as between joints as well as marrow and is a discerning instrument of the intentions and thoughts that are in the mind” (Hebrews 4:12). Many times throughout the years, wisdom words and advice have sprung out of from the pages in my Bible and marrow, right when I was forced to make a choice.
Dwight L Moody once wrote, “We ought to open the Holy Book as we would enter a church where we are certain of seeing our Heavenly Father face-to-face and being able to hear His words.” Billy Graham has stated, “God gave the Bible to us as a way for us to be a part of Him, and to love Him and serve God. Most of all He gave it to us so that we can be closer to Christ.”
Jan White has compiled a collection of her columns in her book, “Everyday Faith for Daily Life.”
