Caregiver College is coming to Covington County. Those who attend will hear from experts on important issues in caregiving and also answer the most frequently-asked questions.

Most of the time caring for someone else, the job is not a simple change that has not been thought of in advance. Being a caregiver for someone who is in cognitive decline can be more challenging when trying to manage working and family obligations. Where do you go to find out how to manage, cope and tap into the local community resources? The SARCOA Caregiver College is a great starting point.


Caregiver College is an event SARCOA (Area Agency on Aging) and Alabama Cares is hosting on August 24, starting at 9:00 a.m. from 9:30 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. on the Opp Adult Activity Center. It is free to take part in the.

The guest speakers from Alabama Securities Commission, Covington County Sheriff’s Department, SARCOA Legal Services along with Still Waters Adult Day Facility will be available to mention some. The speakers will speak on issues related to the legal aid process, respite and the process of navigating Medicare, Project Lifesaver, fraud prevention, and more. The speakers will be on hand to engage in more detailed discussions with participants during the break-out sessions. Lunch and refreshments will be served.


Caregiver College is a series of free caregiver education events held by the Area Agency on Aging to aid caregivers in coordinating and provide care for their loved ones as well as themselves.
