Alexandria, AL — Earlier today, we reported on an fire at Alexandria. Below is a new update.
At 4:05 AM on December 11, 2022 the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 7100 US Highway 431. Fire crews arrived quickly to see that the Valley Veterinary Clinic fire was completely involved. They made a quick assessment and decided not to enter the structure. Jimmy Fisher, Alexandria Fire Chief, stated that the fire had spread throughout the building. Other agencies were asked for their assistance. Additional equipment and firefighters were sent by the Ohatchee Volunteer Fire Department and Jacksonville Fire Department to help with the battle against the fire.
Chief Fisher stated that there were three tanksers, three engines and one aerial truck at the scene, along with a complement of support firefighters, to fight the fire. Chief Fisher stated that the fire had been declared out by Chief Fisher between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM and that all fire equipment was returned to the stations.
Chief Fisher stated that he doesn’t believe there were animals in the building at the time the fire broke out and that no one was hurt on the scene.
Fire marshals will conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
