A taco truck went up in flames early on Tuesday dawn in Talkeetna. The explosion damaged nearby structures and was heard from miles away.

In the early hours of 4:00 am Talkeetna Tako, a food truck that has been calling Main Street home for years it exploded and spit out debris over a few yards. The windows of nearby businesses were destroyed and the items on the shelves were tossed to the floor. The trailer’s entrance was located just across the street, on the roof of a different food truck, which was near the beer garden at The Fairview Inn. The Fairview had a number of its windows facing the front that were broken.

Just immediately Talkeetna Tako is a residence which is owned by the Sheldon family. The home was reportedly damaged by severe damages. The Sheldons were not at home at the time of the incident. The roof of the truck ended up in the Sheldons back yard.

Talkeetna Police Chief Eric Chappel says a propane leak with a mysterious ignition source caused the blast.

Cleaning began shortly following the blast. By 9 am, nearly all the glass and debris was cleared off the streets. In addition to Talkeetna’s Tako’s owners, a number of locals showed up to clean up the mess.

There was no injury to anyone during the blast. Talkeetna Tako’s proprietor, John Krattinger, says that the company is insured.
