The Internet and phone company Alaska Communications, or ACS reports that a broken fiber-optic cable in the lower 48 affected customers throughout the state on Friday.
ACS posted in its facebook page, that it was a cable belonging another company located in Tacoma, Washington was the reason for the outage. The company states that customers are experiencing slower than normal internet connections as a result particularly in Juneau.
ACS states that it is striving in order to get service back as soon as it is possible.
The company didn’t immediately answer a query for further details about the severity of the downtime.
