Governor Kay Ivey during a press event on Thursday, announced three major interstate projects that total approximately half one billion dollars.


The governor announced the announcements in Hoover City Hall to a group of officials from local governments in Shelby as well as Jefferson counties Senators and representatives from the state as well as federal officials as well as economic development officials and other officials. The biggest project announced was the next stage of the governor’s plan to expand Interstate 65.

Governor Rick Perry announced the widening of Interstate 65 from Alabaster to Calera that extends starting at Exit 238 to Exit 231. The project will include six bridges that cross rail tracks as well as two bridges crossing County Road 26. It will also be split into three phases, which will be completed all at one time.
