Oxford, AL –On the evening of September 8th, on Friday at 7:30pm, the Oxford Performing Arts Center will host members of the Pointer Sisters. They are the Pointer Sisters, a dynamic female group, rose to global recognition after their formal training in vocals in California. Their first album, released in 1973, included the smash hit song “Yes You Can We We Can,” and they were the first group of black women performing in the Grand Ole Opry. The sisters altered their style they signing with Planet Records, and achieved popularity with their rock and roll album “Break Out,” which included hits such as “Fire,” “Jump (for my love),” and “I’m excited.” They continued to enjoy their popularity with albums such as “Contact” along with “Hot Together,”” and they celebrated their 20th anniversary in 1993 with their album “Only Sisters Can Do That.” The Pointer Sisters have performed worldwide and are still loved by their people who love them.
