The football season has reached the halfway stage during the normal season, this week. the county teams all playing non-region opponents, and two teams celebrating homecoming.
Andalusia and. Bibb County
Andalusia (5-0) is scheduled to square the The Bibb County (5-0) in an at-home 4A top-10 clash with two unbeaten teams.
This is the sixth time the two teams that dates back to 2000, with the Bulldogs with a lead of 3-2 in the series over Choctaws.
Andalusia hosts Montgomery Academy last week and won 63-19. Bibb County defeated Sipsey Valley in the road, winning 42-21.
The Bulldogs were victorious by a score of 55-18 against the Choctaws in the previous season.
Florala at Samson
Florala (3-1) is expected to try to continue its offensive and head towards Samson (0-4) this week.
The two teams will play on 65 occasions in their history as the Wildcats hold the lead in the series by 36-26-2.
Florala enters the match after a regional homecoming victory over Pleasant Home, 60-6. Samson was defeated in the road last week against Cottonwood with a score of 47-0.
The Wildcats played in 2022 against the Tigers in 2022. They scored a win of 28-14.
Opp vs. Rehobeth
Opp (2-3) is looking to make it even with the season by playing homecoming games with Rehobeth (1-3).
This year’s game could be the eighth time of the two sides since they first met playing on a gridiron back in the year 1978. The Bobcats have the advantage over the Rebels 5-5. It was a region-wide matchup between 2002 and 2005.
Opp got a major regional victory this past week in a home game at home against Pike County, 22-13. Rehobeth was up against a formidable opponent outside of the region and lost to Enterprise 52-6.
The Bobcats went to the Rebels last season and returned with a victory of 23-13.
Pleasant Home vs. Zion Chapel
Pleasant Home (1-3) will try to bounce back this week and end two losing streaks with the home game against Zion Chapel (2-3).
The teams will face against each one another in the series for 18 times since the year 2000. It is the 18th time since 2000. Rebels are averaging six consecutive games in the series and have taken an advantage of 12-5 against the Eagles.
Pleasant Home fell on the road against county foe Florala the last time they played 60-6. Zion Chapel suffered a home loss to Ariton 35-0.
The Eagles were just a bit short at in the Rebels on 2022. losing 28-19.
Red Level vs. Bullock County
Level (1-3) will be reclassified as Red. Level (1-3) Red Level (1-3) go back home to take on three levels to take on the 4A Bullock County (2-3).
The two teams first faced one another last year, with the Hornets winning the series 1-0 against the Tigers.
Red Level held a one-point advantage in the closing half of McKenzie last week in a regional match but eventually lost to the Tigers, 40-19. Bullock County played on the road and won in Dale County, 31-14.
The Hornets played host to the game last year and defeated the Tigers 7-0 in an offensive battle between the two teams.
Straughn in Ariton
Straughn (4-0) hopes to be unbeaten for the remainder of the calendar and will play to the 4th time within the space of five months towards Ariton (2-3).
The two teams played in the past year following an absence of 29 years and played against each other for the 10th time since the season of 1986. They are the Purple Cats have a 6-3 advantage over the Tigers.
Straughn is entering the non-regional game off of a gruelling region victory at Ashford the previous week. winning 17-13. Ariton pitched a shutout at home of 35-0 over Zion Chapel.
The Purple Cats took the 2022 match against the Tigers at home with a 28-14.
